Wheel Alignments in Bedford, Ohio
Alignment is what stops a new set of tires wearing out in a season.
Why the Car Pulls, and What Alignment Actually Fixes
An alignment corrects the angles the wheels sit at. It does not fix a worn component, and running one on a vehicle with play in the suspension just means paying for it twice.
It is also one of the first things a Northeast Ohio pothole takes out.

When to have it checked
- After fitting new tires
- After hitting a serious pothole or kerb
- After suspension or steering work
- When the steering wheel is off-center on a straight road
- When the vehicle pulls to one side
- When tires are wearing unevenly or feathering
Suspension first, alignment second
An alignment adjusts angles. It cannot correct for a worn ball joint, a soft bushing or a bad wheel bearing, because those components move under load and take the settings with them.
So we check the suspension before we align. Aligning a vehicle with worn components is measuring something that will not stay where you put it, the vehicle leaves in spec and is back out of spec within weeks.
What gets adjusted
Toe, camber and caster, within the range the vehicle allows. Not every vehicle offers adjustment on every angle from the factory; where it does not and the angle is out, that usually points at a bent or worn component rather than a setting.
Wheel Alignments. Common Questions
There is no fixed interval. Have it checked with new tires, after suspension work, and any time the vehicle starts pulling or wearing tires oddly. Around here, potholes set the schedule.
Usually not. Vibration at speed is more often wheel balance, a tire problem or a worn component. Alignment addresses pulling and wear, not shake.
A pull to one side, an off center steering wheel on a straight road, or tires wearing faster on one edge than the other.
Potholes are the main one around here, along with curb strikes and normal wear in suspension bushings and joints.
It is worth it. Fitting new tires to a vehicle that is out of alignment wears them unevenly from the first week.
Because alignment angles cannot be held if something is loose. Worn tie rods, ball joints or bushings have to be addressed before the alignment is worth doing.
A four wheel alignment sets the rear angles as well as the front and uses the rear as the reference for the front. Most modern vehicles need it.
